Madonna dresses for Africa… in heels!

It takes more than a bit of hard work to stop Madonna looking glamorous – even digging the dirt in Africa couldn’t deter her from donning her high heels!

The Material Girl, 51, proved that she was willing to get her hands (and shoes) dirty in Malawi as she laid the foundation stone of the Raising Malawi Academy for girls.

Madonna is funding the building of the school, which she hopes will be open by 2011 and will admit 500 girls from across the country.

She said: “"If this school is a success - with God-willing it will be - we will replicate it not only in Malawi but in other parts of the world as well.”

The star famously adopted a baby boy, David Banda, from Malawi in 2006.
